Lead Abatement Services

Lead is an ominous and perilous substance.

It has been used frequently and without regard to safety in a wide variety of products that we use every day including paint, motor fuel, solder, piping and building materials to name a few. As lead builds up in the human body, it can cause adverse effects such as anemia, damage to the kidneys, digestive system, reproductive system and other vital organs. Lower level exposure can damage hearing, cause learning disabilities, and impair coordination. Children are especially vulnerable.

Throughout the years, Goens has perfected its Lead Abatement Services. Our experienced personnel use only the best systems and technology to determine the extent of the problem and create a solution that will bring the project into compliance with governing regulations.

Abatement

Goens uses an assortment of abatement procedures including abrasion, heat scraping, and chemical and mechanical removal. Each procedure incorporates special controls to guard against the spread of lead dust or fumes during the process. Lead disposal is completed in accord with all applicable regulations.

In many cases, containment provides an equally effective and less costly alternative to removal. Encapsulating coatings are available for both exterior and interior surfaces. They provide high resistance to weathering, vapor transmission, abrasion and fire. Other solutions include seals and enclosure.

Solutions

Goens Lead Abatement Services completely refinishes all effected areas following abatement and replaces removed lead painted components like doors, windows and cabinets.
